Stranger then Fiction.

Stranger then fiction is a film about a man which his life is being told in a book that a women is writing. This movie is a postmodern because it has a philosophical bent to were the author and character come together in reality. Harold is a special agent the works for filing taxes. He hears a noise to which scares him because while he is brushing his teeth he realizes that a women is speaking. It strongly throws him off balance because its totally weird. Harold goes to his therapist for help, but his therapist tells him that he needs to get control of himself and see if he might have an enemies that would want to kill him.

As for the author of the book, she is trying to get an idea for her character. She was having a blockage in writing until she came across the character that she has created "Harolrd" little did she know she was creating a death for a man that was living on the same world as her. It causes this movie to be the same to other movies. Because a character is created by the author and its depressing yet mixed into a romantic comedy. Though through the entire movie we get to know the characters we also get to see other things.

This film makes it post modern because Harold realizes he is part of a story and he is going to die. In all movies you notice death is something scary and sad but in this movie they make it sorta a comedy to which causes us all to laugh while Harold mopes around trying to find a way to save his laugh. It makes us laugh without us actually realizing it. But its only because Harold seems to be just another character in someones book.

DO THE RIGHT THING>.....

Do The Right Thing.....1989
This film has a lot to say about race and racism in America. It shows us how all the characters act towards each other. It makes us realizes how much hatrad there is towards different races, between blacks, whites, italians. Do the right thing, tries to show us how each race reacts towards each other. Like Sal's sons Vito and Pino they both see blacks differently. Vito is strongly againest them and claims they are monkey looking creatures. Where as Pino accepts them and get along with Mookie. Race in this movie, makes black people seem like evil people who are trashy. It seemed as though the director wanted them to seem like that. Also when they had the direct talking into the camera moment, they talked bad about all the different races. Every particular race hated a different one. They bashed on each other. The character Buggin' Out had one of the strongest roles, he seemed to want power, when he saw that there were no black people hanging up in Sal's pizza shop it really got to him. He wants to seem strong, powerful. I feel as though he wanted to prove some sort of point. When the white male ran over his shoe, he was furious. He seemed to want attention. He disliked, hated how the other races treated blacks.
Radio Rakeem was a powerful character, he walked around with his radio blasting the same song, like he was trying to get a point across. He was strong but he gave respect to others. When he talked to Mookie he told him, No matter how much hate there is; Love will always over power it. His knuckle rings proved it. When he was killed and fell over his LOVE knuckle was further out. He tried telling them that everyone was equal. He didn't start the problem he just tried to get Sal's to put blacks onto the walls. I think he had a very good reason, Sal's Pizza Place was located in a black neighborhood. When he got into a fight with Sal, I honestly think he wasn't planning on fighting. But Sal was beyond angry so he batted down Radio Rakeems bombox. I don't think the police should have killed him.
Spike Lee seemed to make the point that where you come from you will always find your way back, because Mookie was always siding with Sal and his sons. He wanted his friends to realize that it was Sal's place and he could what he wished. But as soon as he witnessed what happened to Radio Rakeem he went crazy, his anger that he has been building up has finally exploded. I think Spike Lee wanted to show the viewers that what Mookie did was because he never liked the way blacks were treated. He wanted to prove to his neighborhood that it wasn't okay to kill Radio Rakeem and get away with it. So he threw the trash can into the window of Sal's Pizza Place, it seemed that Mookie has had enough of everyones crap.
